My lesson project was with a group of 5th graders studying Social Studies. They app-smashed with Google Maps, Skitch, and Clarisketch to demonstrate their knowledge about America at the turn of the century.

This project much like others you have shared this semester have been very beneficial. I wish I had used google earth on some of my other lessons this year. Do you think if you share the finished product with next years class they will be inspired or more inclined to just copy? Now that I have done several projects I wonder about the merits of showing them what has been done in the past. Great job as always.

You made a very good point about having students submit a draft before they submit their final project. Those preliminary drafts provide a great opportunity for peer evaluations and can be used to facilitate collaboration. I believe that it is good, "real world" practice to have students re-work, and strive to improve upon their first effort.

Thanks for sharing your project with us! It’s so awesome that you use your role to support the content learning happening in the classroom. The rubric is very well worded and your management for trouble-shooting is very creative. I heard you say that you chose content the students were already familiar with, which seems very appropriate. Had the students had prior exposure to the various apps you were using to have them create presentations? Also, I heard you say “we” a couple of times, which makes me wonder about the setting. Are you pushing into a classroom to complete the project? Or maybe working with a para for support? Overall, great project!
